Women’s Month: The Importance of Pap Smears
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it continues to claim lives every year. The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) reminds women that regular Pap smears are a vital step in early detection and prevention.
A Pap smear helps identify abnormal cells on the cervix (lower womb) caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to cervical cancer if left untreated. By detecting these changes early, treatment can be started before the condition progresses.
Women aged 18 to 69 years are encouraged to book Pap smear appointments at affordable rates.
Your health is worth the time it takes for a simple test. Regular screenings save lives.
